The University of Iowa Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences is proud to share that Dr. Adetayo Oladele-Ajose, a current ophthalmology resident at University of Iowa Health Care, has been elected to the Iowa Medical Society (IMS) Board of Directors.
Her appointment was confirmed at the IMS annual meeting, held on May 2, 2025, in Iowa City. Dr. Oladele-Ajose joins a distinguished group of physician leaders dedicated to guiding the strategic direction of IMS and shaping health care policy across the state.
“We are excited to welcome Dr. Oladele-Ajose to the IMS Board,” said IMS President Dr. Alison Lynch. “Her fresh perspective and commitment to the future of medicine will be instrumental in advancing our mission.”
The IMS Board plays a key role in advocating for Iowa’s physicians and patients by shaping policy, promoting professional development, and enhancing member engagement. As the largest and oldest statewide professional association for physicians—representing nearly 6,000 members—IMS is celebrating its 175th anniversary this year.
Dr. Oladele-Ajose earned her medical degree from the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in Buffalo, New York. Throughout her training and career, she has demonstrated a passion for advancing health care and supporting future generations of physicians.
Her election to the IMS Board highlights not only her growing leadership in the medical community but also reflects the high caliber of trainees at the University of Iowa.
