Please join us in welcoming two outstanding new faculty members to our team this month! 

Dr. Tina Hendricks returns to Iowa City as she starts her role as an Assistant Professor. Dr Hendricks was a stand-out resident in our residency program graduating in June of 2024. She has been spending time since graduation expanding her education in Africa learning low-cost techniques for cataract surgery and in South Dakota learning about light adjustable IOLs. Dr. Hendricks joins Drs. Haugsdal (17R), Diel (22R), and Oetting (95R) on the comprehensive service with clinic and OR time at both UI Health Care – Iowa River Landing and the University Campus. We are thrilled that Dr. Hendricks decided to join our faculty and have enjoyed welcoming her back to our department! 

Dr. Tahreem Mir joins us as the newest faculty member (Assistant Professor) on the retina service! Dr. Mir completed her ophthalmology residency training at the Yale School of Medicine and vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at Vanderbilt University. Dr. Mir is originally from Pakistan, where she was a top graduate of the prestigious Aga Khan University Medical College. She subsequently completed a post-doctoral research fellowship at the Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins Hospital, where she served as Associate Director of the Retinal Imaging Research and Reading Center. Dr. Mir is "passionate about taking excellent care of my patients," and chose to join the faculty at Iowa due to the "fantastic colleagues and work team, along with the collegial culture." Welcome, Dr. Mir!
